Screen printing company in Maastricht

We are a screen printing company specialising in producing porcelain and glass transfers. Ceramic screen printing is a technique where ceramic pigments are applied to porcelain by a screen printing process and glass pigments are applied to glass by a screen printing process. We also have the option of firing the decals in our kilns, but the decals can also be sent so that the customer can fire them themselves.

Keron Transfers & La Printelle has been a family business since 1987, comprising father, mother, daughter and staff. Printers have been in our family for four generations. This started around 1925 with Mr Jan Slotboom, then his son Henk Slotboom, then followed by Ellen Dautzenberg - Slotboom and fourthly the junior Frederike Dautzenberg.

Production process

A transfer is printed via a screen printing window onto a certain type of paper. First, paint is printed as a logo or decor and when it has dried sufficiently, a layer of varnish is applied over the paint. After this coating dries, the water transfer is placed in a container of water and soaks off the paper and can then be applied to the material to be decorated.

This could be a cup, plate or glass, for example. After the water transfer is applied, it can dry and the decorated material is placed in the oven and fired at a certain temperature. During firing, the lacquer layer disappears and the logo or decor remains. Glazes use paints that can be fired at temperatures between 780 and 880 degrees.

Decals for on glass are specially printed with glass paints and are then fired at a temperature between 560 and 600 degrees. These decals are not dishwasher safe, but dishwasher safe. The decorating and filleting of porcelain and glass is carefully done by hand, piece by piece.
